Why Do I need SEO?

Okay, now you know a little bit about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and what it does. But is SEO really for me? I get a lot of people pose this question to us. Usually most people believe it is something that others require, they are just happy having a good website.
The fact is if you have a website then in all probability you want others to see it. You want it to reach as many people as possible so that they get the message the website is trying to convey. People, in fact, pay too much attention to how the website looks and do not bother at all about how it will reach its intended audience. Every website belongs to a certain category and it will be offering some kind of service, information or products. There are people out there looking for what you are offering, but how do you reach them? This is where seo comes into play.

Will My Website Get Indexed Automatically?

It is true that Google and other search engines are crawling the web continuously. By doing so, eventually, at some point in time it will also find your site and index it; just like it will index millions and millions of other sites on the net. In the process your site will get lost within the index among the millions of websites which are similar to yours. When someone searches for the products or services you are offering, it will look among similar millions of sites and list them in the search results according to their relevancy. All Google and other search engines want is to provide the most relevant information to the user. It wants the user to find the most accurate information possible. And SEO is the process that will help increase the relevancy of your site. Do not be fooled into thinking that you will be ranked within the top 10 among millions of other sites without doing anything.

Most People Are Not Aware of What Top 10 Rank Means!

While this may come to you as a surprise, but the fact is not too many people are aware of what top 10 means. We get a lot of clients claiming to be at the number 1 position in Google. And they never did a single bit of SEO on their site! When I ask them, what are the keywords for which they are ranking number one, they don’t have a clue. They keep arguing that they are in fact number one in Google. I ask them what they type in Google; they tell me they type their domain name! Now being on the first page of Google by typing in the domain name in the search bar doesn’t make much sense does it? They might as well just type it in the address bar and get the website itself.

You Need SEO To Be Found Online

You first have to find out the keywords or key phrases your customers are searching for and then rank well enough for people to find you online. If you are not a big name, people will not know you by your name or your website address, therefore you have to optimize your website on the keywords that your customers search to look for your services. Once you start ranking well on those keywords, suddenly you get a surge of visitors coming to your website. The more visitors you get the more sales you make.
Remember, if you are not within the 1st or the 2nd page of Google for the key phrases you are targeting, then your customers won’t find you. Research shows that approximately 80% of visitors won’t go beyond the first page of the search results. So if you are not within the top ten, you are missing out on 80% of the customers. That is preciously why you need SEO.
